Forests in His Name

A forest is the most fitting thank you we know

Steve Bender has committed to dedicating and funding a forest in Trammell’s name every year.

EarthX Forest, Rovaniemi, Finland

Planted by Carboreal Oy and the Environmental Xperience at EarthX on a former peat field. The forest is expected to remove about 13,000 tonnes of CO2. It is registered in the Finnish Land Registry under Trammell S. Crow’s name and legally protected for at least 70 years.

Trammell S. Crow Rare Tree Forest, Dolphin Bay, Bocas del Toro, Panama

Dedicated August 6, 2026, as part of rainforest restoration at Dolphin Bay, alongside the reintroduction of the critically endangered Great Green Macaw.

Next: a forest for the monarchs, Mexico

Now in development for 2027, in Mexico’s monarch butterfly overwintering region: native trees planted where the monarchs hibernate each winter, at the end of the same migration that crosses Texas and the Peace Flyway.

Protecting it comes first. Through Rotarian Katherine Turner of Baja Bridges, firefighters from the monarch region took part in free wildland firefighter training at a live-fire camp in Baja California in May 2026, the step required before donated equipment can be issued. Local teams still need protective gear, hand tools, pumps and radios.

Send Trammell your thank you

Friends, family and organizations from around the world: share a story, a memory or a project his stage helped make possible. The book grows all year, until his 76th birthday on November 6, 2027.
